Glomerulonephritis (Kidney Failure)
Glomerulonephritis or chronic nephritis refers to a type of kidney disease in which the part of the kidneys that helps filter waste and fluids from the blood is damaged. In some instances autoimmune processes are involved.
The condition can often be managed using conventional means but when kidney failure sets in the patient not infrequently face going on dialysis. Is there a way to avoid this? For many people a stem cell treatment may supply the needed fix.
In 2006 Dr. David Steenblock’s namesake research institute (SRI) tracked an elderly lady with glomerulonephritis who had an intravenous (IV) infusion of pure cord blood stem cells in a clinic in Mexico (One Dr. Steenblock served as a consultant to.) This patient was expected to go on dialysis in a few weeks time. However, her nephrologist (kidney doctor) reported that her kidney function returned to normal following her stem cell treatment. She lived on for many more years before dying of natural causes.
In addition, bone marrow stem cells may help glomerulonephritis specially when autoimmune processes are involved (BM tissue is rich in mesenchymal stem cells which have been shown to dampen autoimmune attacks.) Various studies lend support to this including: Transplanted mesenchymal stem cells accelerate glomerular healing in experimental glomerulonephritis.
Dr. Steenblock has done over 1000 procedures to-date in which he harvested and then gave patients their own stem cell-rich bone marrow.
