Unlike most other stem cell medicine programs around the world, Dr. Steenblock is both using and continually evaluating a large number of factors and techniques to see what helps or hinders the mobilization, growth and engraftment of the stem cells (in people with a wide variety of diseases and medical conditions.) One thing he knows from experience is that chronically ill people often needed to be prepared to receive stem cells much like a farmer prepares and fertilizes crop soil before doing his spring planting.
One way to “prep the soil” is to check for infections. Dr. Steenblock has found that many people have occult or asymptomatic infections especially in the sinuses. As these can interfere with stem cells he makes sure to eradicate these prior to a stem cell treatment.
Other people have high levels of toxic heavy metals present in their tissues which must be dealt with. One way in which this is done is by the systematic infusion of chelating agents; that is, treatment with chemicals that latch onto heavy metals and dump them in the urine. Most chelation treatments are done by IV (intravenous) drip. As there are some medical conditions in which chelation therapy is not advisable, this has to be carefully evaluated by Dr. Steenblock and his medical team.
In addition, some people especially some older ones have devitalized stem cells in their bone marrow. Dr. Steenblock has worked out a way to flush these out and by so doing prod the bone marrow to create new, healthier, more robust replacements. This process involves the use FDA approved stem cell mobilizing and activating drugs. Also, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is sometimes used as it mobilizes stem cells and concomitantly revs up various bodily healing mechanisms.
Dr. Steenblock also makes use of Periodic Acceleration Therapy (PAT) to help mobilize stem cells. As part of this treatment patients lie on the PAT platform and are gently moved back-and-forth. This creates mild sheer stress in blood vessels which produces chemicals that open up blood vessels and liberates stem cells.
He also has some patients undergo treatments using the external counterpulsation machine. This FDA approved treatment involves wrapping large inflatable cuffs about the patients extremities; cuffs that are hooked up to a machine that inflates and deflates them at specific times. This pushes blood back to the heart and by so doing opens up arteries. Many doctors, in fact, refer to this as a “natural bypass.” Dr. Steenblock uses this on many patients with arterial blockage as a prelude to a stem cell based treatment.
